The most challenging section of the online PMP application form asks questions about your project management experience. This is the part of the application that most people find most difficult. It is important that you understand this section correctly, as you will need to prove your project management experience in order to qualify for the exam.

You will be asked to provide full details of your professional experience with the project. The online form asks for:

  1. Project title
  2. Organization where the project was conducted and its primary domain
  3. Your job title
  4. Functional reporting area
  5. Approach or methodology:
  6. Choose from traditional (waterfall), agile, or hybrid
  7. Project team size
  8. Project budget must be entered in USD
  9. You can also select the project’s data and whether the project is still running.
  10. A description that summarizes your role and includes information about project objectives, results, deliverables, and your responsibilities. PMI advises a typical answer to be 200-500 words.

You can download an excel sheet here to populate your project-handling experience.

There is no problem with overlapping project dates. Many people manage multiple projects at the same time. However, time spent working on duplicate projects is only counted after the elapsed time. For example, between January to March , someone managed four projects, which will still matter for only one month. i.e. Each calendar month only counts as a single month of experience, even if someone managed multiple projects.
